Protein Page:

NEK1 a protein kinase related to the NIMA (never in mitosis, gene A) serine/threonine kinase of Aspergillus nidulans. Expressed at high levels during gametogenesis and neurons of the peripheral ganglia. Implicated in the control of meiosis. Mouse mutants lead to facial malformation, male sterility and polycystic kidney disease. Two alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
