UBXN4
Involved in endoplasmic reticulum-associated protein degradation (ERAD). Acts as a platform to recruit both UBQLN1 and VCP to the ER during ERAD. Expressed in many tissues, including heart, brain, placenta, lung, liver, skeletal muscle, kidney and pancreas. Accumulates in Alzheimer disease-afflicted brains (at protein level).
