MIER1
Transcriptional repressor regulating the expression of a number of genes including SP1 target genes. Probably functions through recruitment of HDAC1 a histone deacetylase involved in chromatin silencing. Ubiquitously expressed, but at very low levels. However, consistent level of expression are observed in heart, testis, thyroid, ovary and adrenal gland. Transcripts are up-regulated in breast carcinoma cell lines and tumor. 2 alternatively spliced human isoforms have been reported. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
