DSTYK a serine/threonine protein kinase of the 'Other-Unique' family, most closely related to kinases of the TKL family including IRAK and RIPK. Overexpression induces apoptotic cell death. The caspase inhibitor crmA apparently blocks DNA fragmentation but not apoptosis, suggesting that SgK496 may induce both caspase-dependent apoptosis and caspase-independent cell death. Four alternatively spliced isoforms have been described. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
