Overview
CLK3 a CMGC kinase of the CLK family. Phosphorylates serine- and arginine-rich (SR) proteins of the spliceosomal complex. May play a role in regulating RNA splicing. Three alternatively spliced isoforms have been described. Isoform 2 is short and lacks the kinase domain. May be produced at very low levels due to a premature stop codon in the mRNA, leading to nonsense-mediated mRNA decay. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
