PTEN
a phosphoinositide 3-phosphatase (PIP3) and a tumor suppressor implicated in a wide variety of human cancers. Dephosphorylates inositol phospholipids generated by the activation of the phosphoinositide 3 kinase (PI3K). A major negative regulator of the PI3K/Akt signaling pathway. Possesses a C-terminal regulatory domain that contains three phosphorylation sites which may regulate its stability. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
