TFIIF is a general transcription initiation factor that binds to RNA polymerase II and helps to recruit it to the initiation complex in collaboration with TFIIB. It promotes transcription elongation. Heterodimer of an alpha and a beta subunit. Interacts with GTF2F2, CTDP1, TAF6/TAFII80 and URI1. Up-regulated in response to enterovirus 71 (EV71) infection. Belongs to the TFIIF alpha subunit family. Note: This description may include information from UniProtKB.
Biological Process: fibroblast growth factor receptor signaling pathway; gene expression; mRNA capping; nuclear mRNA splicing, via spliceosome; positive regulation of viral transcription; response to virus; RNA elongation from RNA polymerase II promoter; snRNA transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription from RNA polymerase II promoter; transcription initiation from RNA polymerase II promoter
